Welcome Aboard! The Spectra Sportfishing Story

The Spectra Overhaul Gallery

Here is my story that all started from the internet forums.

About 3 or 4 years ago, I got back into fishing after a 5-year hiatus without so much as a rod or reel. As soon as I did pick one up though, I got instantly hooked into the sport again. This time around, I learned about fishing forums and as I continued to explore them, I realized that there were thousands of fishermen out there just like me with the same passion. I was in awe.

With every report, tip, spot, trick, and secret that I learned and contributed, the addiction, and the skill, grew. I felt like there was an angler with an answer to every possible question I had. It was all the help from the board members that contributed to my successful fishing trips and most memorable catches.

I am a very humble fisherman, but I wanted to figure out a way to make other anglers’ experience as fulfilling as mine has continued to be. I am constantly looking for opportunities to contribute my ideas, no matter how insubstantial they might be. I feel like fishermen haven’t been getting what they should. Some boats are running an awesome operation but more than a few could have some minor improvements. For example, if the 1/2 day boats stepped it up to the level of the 3/4 day boats, and the 3/4 day boats treated us like the overnight boats, and the overnight boats gave us an experience of a long range trip, then the quality of all fishing trips could start to rise to the level that we should all expect as anglers. Taking it back to basics… customer service.

I kept hearing myself say, “If I had a boat, I’d run it like this….” Today, I finally have a chance to run a boat MY way – from a fisherman’s point of view. Since I have learned so much from my fellow anglers, your input is the key to my business.

As I talked to many of the anglers on the board, I got invaluable input as to what each angler wanted and valued in a trip. Some of the greatest suggestions were also some of the simplest. Experienced fishermen said they wanted more rod holders that were more accessible, greater bait capacity, a nice fish hold, and more space all around. With all of this and more in mind, I came across a beauty and fell in love.

She was in beautiful shape and had under 500 hours. After quite a bit of time, money, and energy invested, she boasts of some of the following features: 20 ton refrigerated fish hold with blast freezer, 16 feet wide beam, 2 extra slammers, bow thrusters, freshwater maker, and sleeps 10-12 very comfortably.

So finally, anglers have a boat that is geared towards fishermen.
